Minds Matter of Denver

Minds Matter of Denver is committed to making college education a reality for accomplished high school students from low-income environments since we first opened our doors in 2004. Students are paired with two adult mentors and spend time during weekly after-school sessions working on summer and college applications, standardized test preparation, community service efforts, writing and speaking skills, and other life skills that benefit the student academically and personally. This year, more than 180 volunteers from the Denver area will team up to support 60 students from five area schools! The organizers of Mini Derby are also mentoring an incredibly talented 10th grade mentee named Lina who was recently accepted into Harvard University Summer Program for the 7 week college credit summer program! How incredible it that?!

Cherry Arts Festival

CherryArts (Colorado Events & Education) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation whose mission is to provide access to art experiences and support arts education in Colorado. Along with the annual Cherry Creek Arts Festival and CherryArts Festival at Stanley, CherryArts fulfills its year-round art education and outreach mission through programs including the Mobile Art Gallery, Artist in Residence programs and the Janus Student Art Buying Program.

CherryArts comes to Stanley Marketplace September 15th - 17th!

Kids Compassion Project

Kids’ Compassion Project was founded in 2015 with the belief that we can change the world by instilling compassion in our children. We aim to do this through creating memorable and meaningful service opportunities for kids while featuring local non-profits.

Mission: Building a legacy of compassion in tomorrow’s leaders while making the world a better place today.

Vision: Through a network of involved families, community members and non-profits, Kids’ Compassion Project creates opportunities for children to serve and grow by hosting volunteer events, providing resources and education, and partnering with local non-profits.

808 Equine

Equine 808 Horse Rescue has been in operation since 2008 when they took in our first horse, Kentucky. The founders just simply couldn’t handle seeing a skinny horse a few stalls down from them. From that first desire to help a single horse has grown into a multi-state 501(c)(3) charity helping dozens of horses. Equine 808 Horse Rescue does not receive government aid and relies completely on donations from kind supporters and fundraising events such as the Mini Derby.  Several of our minis are under the daily care of 808 Equine and we hope you learn more about how they came to be taken care of at the Mini Derby.

*Horse racing is undoubtedly cruel, the Mini Derby does not promote or endorse horse racing but rather an enjoyable day out with friends in fancy attire. The Kentucky Derby could stop completely and we would still throw a big party with bigger hats and our four legged friends. In fact, we would be glad if it did.*
